Exhibition Introduction:

"Taiwan Landscape Painting" is a 320-meter-long ink painting scroll completed by Professor Hsu Wen-Jung, born in Changhua, Taiwan, over four years (1992-1996). It is recognized as the world's longest Chinese ink painting, depicting Taiwan's natural landscapes, folk customs, and cultural developments, earning the title of a modern Taiwanese version of the "Along the River During the Qingming Festival."

Collaborating with artist Hsu Wen-Jung, Science and Art Fusion worked to digitally translate and recreate "Taiwan Landscape Painting," presenting Taiwan's natural landscapes and traditional festivals. The immersive experience is imbued with cultural and artistic significance, suitable for families to appreciate together.

The exhibition is divided into three main themes: The "First Movement" involves scanning and digitizing "Taiwan Landscape Painting" into high-resolution digital files, transforming it into an immersive visual script. After re-recording ambient music and natural sound effects, 3D animation, special effects (VFX), and interactive technology are employed to create a new digital image, converting static landscape paintings into dynamic projections, presenting Taiwan's natural and cultural magnificence in a new visual form.

The "Second Movement," "Ink Impressions," symbolizes the natural flow of the brush and ink, expressing infinite tension in the composition. Inspired by Hsu Wen-Jung's realization of the importance of local culture during his time living abroad, he spent four years after returning to Taiwan visiting mountains, rivers, and cultural sites, faithfully documenting Taiwan's diverse landscapes with his brush. The artwork not only displays the transitions of day and night and the changing seasons but also imbues the images with a sense of flow. Utilizing immersive technology and interactive projection techniques, including 3D modeling, floor animations, particle effects, and surround sound design, this magnificent ink painting scroll becomes an experiential journey, allowing audiences to be present at the six major landmarks depicted in "Taiwan Landscape Painting": San Diao Jiao Lighthouse, Office of the President of the Republic of China, Qingshan Terrace in Yangmingshan, National Palace Museum, Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, and Dihua Street in Dadaocheng. Finally, a bird's-eye view map connects these landmarks, projecting Taiwan's cultural memories of the landscapes, echoing the historical significance of "Taiwan Landscape Painting."

The "Third Movement," XR Exploration Journey, involves wearing Meta Quest 3 VR glasses to tour the glistening Sun Moon Lake, feel the clear-as-mirror surface of the lake, stand before the majestic Shifen Waterfall, ride a mine cart through misty mountains, and arrive in Jiufen, wandering the ancient streets and experiencing the passage of time and the sedimentation of the years. XR technology allows the audience to be fully immersed! With a 360-degree panoramic view and high-quality images, it delicately presents the beauty of Taiwan's nature and culture. Interactive experiences, free exploration, and the companionship of knowledgeable influencers and professional guides enable an experience of Taiwan's historical and cultural charm. This exhibition also features renowned actor Tu Shan-Tsun and theater actor Liao Yuan-Ching in a crossover performance. Tu Shan-Tsun's 3D digital image was created through digital scanning and 3D modeling, marking a rare cross-disciplinary collaboration in his performing career.

The exhibition's immersive imaging production is led by the "Light Dot Ji Shu" art animation special effects team, and the interactive image production is handled by the "Leap Media" image interactive team. By scanning and digitizing "Taiwan Landscape Painting" into high-resolution digital files, the team translated it into an immersive visual script. After re-recording ambient music and natural sound effects, 3D animation, VFX, and interactive technology were used to create a new digital image, transforming static landscape paintings into dynamic projections, presenting Taiwan's natural and cultural magnificence in a new visual form. Combining fully immersive projection, contemporary ink animation, and XR interactive experiences, this three-part series explores the beauty of Taiwan through the interweaving of light and shadow, offering a cultural journey across time and space. It takes you through the magnificent landscapes and cultural memories of Taiwan, providing a delightful and awe-inspiring experience of the fusion of technology and art!
