Schaffhausen IWC Introduces High-Performance Pilot's Watch with Digital Date-Month Perpetual Calendar
In 2023, Schaffhausen's IWC launched the high-performance Pilot's Watch Timezoner 41, marking the brand's first chronograph masterpiece featuring a ceramic tachymeter bezel. This year, IWC further expands its high-performance watch line by incorporating a perpetual calendar for the first time.
This watch combines a Ceratanium® case and bracelet with a black ceramic bezel featuring a tachymeter scale, and a hammered texture black dial. The perpetual calendar displays the date and month in digital format on large golden dials. The all-black design exudes a high-tech feel, making it impressively distinctive. The case, crown, and bracelet are meticulously forged, offering the lightness and structural integrity of titanium, as well as the hardness and scratch resistance of ceramic. The bezel is made of polished black ceramic and includes a tachymeter scale. Wearers can use the chronograph function to measure the average speed over a distance of one kilometer. Additionally, the black hour markings and hands are coated with Super-LumiNova®, ensuring clarity and readability under any lighting conditions.
The perpetual calendar displays the date and month at the 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock positions on two large golden dials, automatically recognizing the number of days in different months. An extra day is added at the end of February every four years. Therefore, the combination of '29' and '02' appears on the dial only once every four years. Despite its complex mechanism composed of four display dials, the calendar can be easily adjusted via the crown.
The watch is powered by IWC’s in-house 89802 caliber, providing a 68-hour power reserve. This meticulously designed mechanical movement consists of 474 parts and features a chronograph function, with the beautiful mechanics visible through a pale blue sapphire crystal case back.
