Get Up Close with Counterculture Antiques, Appreciate 150 Years of Abundant Flavors
With a rich heritage of 150 years, the top Swiss jewelry and watchmaking family Piaget has evolved from watchmaking to encompassing high-end jewelry aesthetics, becoming a top brand that seamlessly straddles the worlds of jewelry and watches.
Asymmetrical streamlined aesthetics, radial setting designs, color clashes, and the renowned craftsmanship of courtly engravings have all been boldly preserved through the creativity of Piaget's craftsmen and jewelry designers, spanning hundreds of years to the present day. Looking back at the 1960s to 1980s, Piaget's golden age witnessed the creation of numerous miraculous and luxuriously beautiful jewelry and watch pieces. To celebrate the extraordinary 150th anniversary of the family, Piaget delved into its historical records and rich legendary archives. This initiated an antique exhibition tour, leading people through time and space to unveil Piaget's legends and craftsmanship. From La Côte-aux-Fées to La Côte d'Azur, through the family's antique pieces from different eras, there is a deep understanding of "Extraleganza," an elegant and epoch-making new concept, experiencing the emotions and creativity of the top Swiss jewelry and watchmaking family Piaget, and more importantly, the legends built by Piaget among the art and celebrity circles.
Among the antique pieces exhibited in Taiwan, a green jade-faced necklace watch made of 18K rose gold with a twisted design from 1970, and a jewelry bracelet watch from 1977, which dazzles with vibrant colors created by the collision of gold and emerald gemstones, all exude a captivating brilliance that is truly worth savoring for the exquisite details and craftsmanship in the works.
The selection and planning of the antique exhibition works are extremely precious and rare, perfectly narrating Piaget's exclusive color story. Piaget, with its pioneering methods and vision, introduced a jewelry watch with a decorative colored gemstone dial in 1963. The introduction of color into the watchmaking industry can be considered a revolutionary innovation and breakthrough. This innovation was made possible by the launch of two ultra-thin movements: the 2mm thick 9P (1957) and the 2.3mm thick 12P (1960), opening up a whole new creative vision. These antique pieces are all equipped with the family's proud in-house movements, including the 6P manual winding movement, the 9P ultra-thin manual winding movement, and the 4P ultra-thin manual winding movement.
The antique collection will be on display until the end of February. Piaget gladly invites all collectors who love Piaget, as well as contemporary men and women interested in jewelry design, to visit the newly renovated Piaget Taipei 101 boutique, and appreciate the counterculture antiques of Piaget up close, to savor the abundant flavors of its 150-year heritage.
